Didier Drogba And Malian Wife Lalla Diakite
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is making waves for his football game but what many don't know is that he is that kind of one-woman man most women dream of. While many African footballers prefer to play the field with different baby mamas in each club city they play, Didier has been an exception.
Drogba had first professional contract in 1999, the same year, he and his Malian wife Lala Diakite, had their first child, Isaac. Drogba has said that his first son's birth was a turning point in his life, and straightened him out. He and his wife were not married then, by traditionally engaged.
Even as Didier continued to make his name in international football, with a higher profile and more money, and moving to England and the EPL, he stuck to his Lala.
In 2011, more than 10 years and three children later, he gave her a befitting fairy tale wedding in Monaco with some 500 guests drawn from the world of sport and show business attending the event. There was also a lavish traditional ceremony in their hometown.
In essence, Didier Drogba showed his humility and faithfulness by 're-wedding' his wife after he got made. He said it was his way of saying thank you for marrying him poor.
