Tanzania Intensifies Anti-Ebola Measures

Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete announced on Tuesday that the government will spend 931 million shillings ($560,000) to aid the fight against Ebola, Tanzania's The Guardian reported.
Kikwete made the announcement after he visited an isolation treatment centre for Ebola patients at the Temeke Regional Hospital in Dar es Salaam and inspected the thermo scanners installed at the Julius Nyerere International Airport.
"I am satisfied with preparations both for the isolation treatment centre and the installation of thermo scanners," he said. "I will direct the minister for finance to release the funds as soon as possible."

Two Tanzanian doctors also volunteered to assist in Liberia, and will be deployed shortly, Minister Health and Social Welfare Minister Seif Rashid said.
Meanwhile, Kenya has deported 12 travellers who arrived in the country from Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia since August 19th, Kenya's Daily Nation reported.
All incoming travellers are now being screened for symptoms of Ebola, Kenyan Director of Public Health Kepha Ombacho said.
"Together with port health and immigration officials, we have heightened screening and surveillance at our ports of entry to minimise against the risk of Ebola," he said.
